released March 27, 1998

Created in a wardrobe in 1998, and finally released exactly 20 years later, this is a lo to mid-fi, DIY affair.

The drums for 'Greedo', 'The Would-Be Rescue Kid', 'Amanda Gain' and 'Norton's Babies' were taken from snippets of my playing during recording my friend Magnus the previous March. The rest were recorded to cassette with one mic at the rehearsal space behind Shake Some Action records in Croydon and then edited, looped and run through delays on eight track, building instrumental music around them. Natalie Edelman played saxophone on three tracks and clarinet on an another. Apparently good music to paint to. It’s thoroughly imperfect but I like it.

Written and recorded December 1997 to March 1998.

Natalie Edelman - saxophone and clarinet
Matt Rigsby Smith - drums, guitars, bass, pager, pitchshfter/delay pedal, tremelo, cassette deck and field recordings

Many thanks to Louisa Knight for cymbals loan, and to Louise, as ever, for everything.
